Connect an assistant

Add Track Anything to Claude, ChatGPT or another assistant, and ask about what you have recorded. Any client that can sign in to a remote MCP connector works; the connection reads the journals you choose, and it only reads.

The connection details

This is everything an assistant needs. There is no API key, nothing to install and nothing to paste back. Track Anything is not in the assistants' own directories yet, so you add it yourself as a custom connector.

Before you start

  • A Track Anything account, signed in on at least one device, with sync finished. The connection reads your synced data, not the device in your hand — an entry that has not reached the cloud yet is not there to read.
  • An assistant that can add a custom MCP connector. Assistants keep these on their paid plans and set them up on the web, so if the menus below are not where this page says, check your plan and try a browser. The two walkthroughs cover Claude and ChatGPT; every other tool follows the same three steps.

Claude

  1. Open Settings → Connectors.
  2. Choose Add, then Add custom connector.
  3. Name it Track Anything, and as the remote MCP server URL enter https://api.track-anything.com/mcp. Continue.
  4. Choose Connect. A Track Anything page opens; sign in with your account.
  5. Pick the journals the connection may read and approve. You are returned to Claude, and the connector is listed as connected.

ChatGPT

Custom connectors are behind developer mode, because ChatGPT has not reviewed them. That is a one-time setting.

  1. Open Settings → Security and login and turn on Developer mode.
  2. Open Settings → Plugins → Browse plugins, then choose + at the top right.
  3. Name it Track Anything, set the server URL to https://api.track-anything.com/mcp and leave the authentication on OAuth.
  4. Confirm the warning about custom servers and create it.
  5. Connect it. A Track Anything page opens; sign in, pick the journals the connection may read, and approve.

Any other tool

Anything that supports a remote MCP server and its OAuth sign-in works the same way: give it the URL, let it sign you in, approve the journals. The connector registers the client itself, so there is no ID or secret to create. A tool that cannot sign in this way cannot connect at all — the address answers nothing without it.

Menu names move around as assistants change. If a step is not where it says here, look for whatever the tool calls a custom connector, a remote MCP server or an MCP endpoint.

What you approve

The approval screen is Track Anything's own. It names the assistant that asked, and it is where you decide:

  • all journals and data, or only the journals you switch on one by one;
  • whether journals you create later are included;
  • and it tells you that the assistant also sees the email address of the account.

What the assistant can do

Two things, both read-only:

  • see which journals the connection may read, by name;
  • read one of those journals for a date range — its trackers, notes and reminders, grouped by day.

That is the whole of it. It cannot create, change or delete anything, it cannot reach a journal you did not share, and it cannot widen its own access.

Questions it can answer once connected:

  • “Review my last week in my Health journal.”
  • “Which days did I record a headache last month?”
  • “Compare this week with the week before.”

Change or end a connection

In the app, open Settings → AI → Configure Connections. A connected assistant offers Customize: change the journals it may read, or disconnect it entirely.

A change takes effect on the assistant's next request — there is nothing to approve again. Deleting your Track Anything account ends every connection with it.

If something does not work

The approval screen shows the wrong account

Sign out at app.track-anything.com, then start the connection again from the assistant.

Today's entries are missing from the answer

The connection reads what has synced. Open the app, let it finish, and ask again.

The assistant says a journal is not shared

That is the connection doing its job. Switch the journal on under Customize, and ask again — no new approval is needed.

“New connections are paused”

New connections are briefly switched off. Connections that already exist keep working; try again later.

The assistant reports it lost access

The connection was ended in the app, or the account changed. Connect again from the assistant.

Privacy
